Renault delays plans for new Factory
I am in Hawaii again, putting on my press and writing hat again.
Here is some more unfortunate economic news which shows further evidence (if any was needed) of the global economic slowdown, which some have even described as worldwide meltdown of sorts.
The Renault Corporation has announced that is has put a project to build an automobile factory on the back burner for the time being. All in all, this was annouced as the auto manufacturing giant reported a
painful 6-month loss of €982 million ($1.27 billion), as contrasted with net income of €1.42 billion just a
year previous. In one bit of rather good news for a change, the firm in question did not announce any
further job cuts for the current year, although it will continue a plan started in 2008 to gradually cut
some six thousand or so from their worldwide payrolls via various voluntary means. Mr. Ghosn said the work force would be 120,000 by the end of 2009, compared with 129,000 at the end of 2008 Renault has also somewhat retooled their relationship with their Japanese partner Nissan. By the way if you are visiting Hawaii and needto find a first rate Hawaii Nissan dealer, here is a good one.
In recent months, Nissan has sought to move the facilities of the British isles to the subcontinent of India within the next several years or so, rouphly. CEO Ghosn has basically shoffled his management team.
For example, he has named a brand new global sales chief, a new sales director plus even a new leader of
quality & engineering.
